Like many artists, Mimi Millmier Mckinney enjoys creating art as a form of self-expression. Her artwork, she says, “Is a means of clarifying my mind and putting my thoughts and dreams in tangible form”. The style of her artwork has been inspired by two very different art movements: classic realism like that of renaissance masters, and the bold lines and bright colors that are prominent in tattoo and comic book art, illustration and, in general, the lowbrow / pop surrealistic movement. Both movements she had unknowingly incorporated into her artwork at a very young age, and continues to integrate in to her work today. Mimi’s illustrations have fascinated an audience of collectors who claim her signature style of work has a distinctiveness all its own, and treasure collecting her dream-inspired works. |
